Magic System, a leading group on the Ivorian music scene, has embodied the festive and committed spirit of zouglou since its formation in 1996. Internationally recognized for its sunny anthems, the quartet seduced the world with hits like "Premier Gaou" (2002), "Un gaou à Oran" (2004), and "Magic in the Air" (2014), the title that became the unofficial anthem of the French national team at the 2018 World Cup. Hailing from Abidjan, Asalfo, Goudé, Tino, and Manadja draw their inspiration from zouglou, an Ivorian artistic movement that combines music and dance to evoke social realities. Magic System's career has been marked by a meteoric rise and global recognition, despite a modest start with the commercial failure of their first album "Papitou." It was with "1er Gaou," funded by the visionary Ephrem Youkpo, that their destiny changed, propelling their music beyond the Ivorian borders. Bob Sinclar's remix of this single in 2002 was a turning point, opening the doors to international success. Their musical journey, punctuated by prestigious collaborations and participation in internationally renowned festivals, testifies to their ability to connect cultures. Their story is one of meteoric rise, unwavering resilience, and infectious joy, perfectly embodying the spirit of brotherhood and festivity that defines zouglou.
